Senior PHP & WordPress Backend Developer

Job Description

Strong communication skills and the ability to document and managethe Role & responsibilities: Design, develop, and maintain custom REST APIs using WordPress (/wp-json/custom/v1/) and PHP. Implement and manage user modules : profile creation, OTP login, media uploads, chat, preferences, and dashboard. Integrate third-party services like Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) , MSG91 (SMS OTP), and CometChat . Write, optimize, and manage MySQL queries involving large, normalized schemas (including wp_users, wp_dsp_*, and custom tables). Develop and maintain custom WordPress plugins and theme-level business logic (especially Elementor-based). Apply security best practices: input validation, CSRF protection, SQL injection prevention using $wpdb->prepare(). Participate in feature planning, documentation, and debugging using tools like Postman , WP_DEBUG , and Query Monitor . Coordinate with frontend/mobile teams (Flutter) to ensure API compatibility and performance. Manage scheduled background tasks using WordPress cron jobs (email reminders, data updates). Document architecture, APIs, and processes to support handovers and scale-up. Preferred Candidate Profile 6 years of hands-on experience in PHP development , with at least 2 years in advanced WordPress customization . Proven experience in REST API development within the WordPress framework. Deep knowledge of MySQL including designing and maintaining large, complex schemas. Familiarity with Firebase , MSG91 , or any push notification and SMS gateway integration. Hands-on experience with AJAX, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3 in a custom WordPress environment. Proficient in debugging, version control (Git) , and managing code in a collaborative setup. Experience working with Elementor or other advanced theme builders is a plus. Strong focus on security , performance optimization, and scalability. Knowledge of server-side configuration (Apache/Nginx, cron jobs, .env, etc.) is desirable.
