About the Role We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Java microservices and a proven track record of building scalable, secure, and resilient payment infrastructure . This is a foundational role where you’ll design and implement the core libraries and services powering our transaction systems, payment orchestration, and internal financial operations. You will play a critical role in laying the technical groundwork for multi-rail money movement, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance across global payment flows. Responsibilities ✅ Lead the design and development of high-performance backend systems using Java and Spring Boot for payment processing and financial operations. ✅ Architect and build reusable payment libraries and SDKs to abstract complexities across multiple payment providers and settlement rails ( ACH, wires, cards, UPI, crypto ). ✅ Develop secure APIs for payments, refunds, reconciliation, ledgering, and chargebacks with strong idempotency guarantees . ✅ Implement transactional integrity and state management using best practices for distributed systems . ✅ Own critical components for risk management, KYC/AML integration , and compliance-first flows. ✅ Collaborate with DevOps to ensure robust CI/CD , containerization, observability, and operational efficiency. ✅ Conduct detailed code reviews, design walkthroughs, and architecture discussions to enforce engineering excellence. ✅ Drive adoption of engineering standards, system design patterns, and best practices for scale and maintainability . ✅ Mentor junior developers and contribute to the growth of a high-performing backend team . Requirements ✔️ 7+ years of professional backend engineering experience with Java (Spring Boot) in large-scale systems. ✔️ Proven experience building financial infrastructure , especially payments, settlements, and ledger services. ✔️ Deep understanding of microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architecture , and asynchronous workflows. ✔️ Strong grasp of database design , performance tuning, and data consistency across PostgreSQL, MySQL , or similar RDBMS. ✔️ Experience with message queues like Kafka or RabbitMQ for real-time or batch financial event processing. ✔️ Hands-on experience integrating with payment gateways and financial APIs (e.g., NIUM, Stripe, Plaid, Adyen, Wise, etc.). ✔️ Expertise in application-level security, encryption standards, OAuth2 , and token-based auth flows. ✔️ Strong commitment to testing, monitoring , and operational readiness. ✔️ Ability to own and deliver complex infrastructure projects end-to-end with minimal oversight .
