Longest Equal Subarray After Bit Flips

Difficulty : Hard

Categories :

  • Bit manipulation

You are given an array of integers nums and an integer k. You can perform any of the following operations at most k times:

  • Select any element in the array and flip any number of its bits (0 to 1 or 1 to 0)
  • Flipping any number of bits of one element counts as one operation, so a single operation can change that element to any value

Your task is to maximize the length of the longest subarray that contains all equal elements after at most k operations.

Constraints:

  • 1 ≤ nums.length ≤ 10^5
  • 1 ≤ nums[i] ≤ 10^9
  • 0 ≤ k ≤ 20
  • Expected time complexity: O(n)

Examples:

Input: nums = [4,2,4,4], k = 1
Output: 4
Explanation:
Change 2 (binary: 010) to 4 (binary: 100) with one operation (flip its two differing bits)
Array becomes [4,4,4,4], longest equal subarray length is 4
Input: nums = [1,2,4,8], k = 2
Output: 3
Explanation:
Change 2 (010) to 1 (001) with one operation and 4 (100) to 1 (001) with another
Array can become [1,1,1,8], longest equal subarray length is 3
Making all 4 elements equal would need 3 operations
