Mechanical Engineer EV Motor & Controller | Vendor Dev. & Coordination

Job Summary: We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to manage the manufacturing of EV motors through third-party vendors. The ideal candidate will be responsible for vendor development, process validation, quality assurance, and ensuring timely delivery of motor components and assemblies that meet design specifications. Key Responsibilities: Identify, evaluate, and onboard vendors for EV motor and component manufacturing. Share detailed motor designs, drawings, and specifications with vendors and ensure DFM/DFA compliance. Coordinate with vendors to develop prototypes and move toward production. Conduct regular visits to vendor sites for process inspection, quality checks, and progress monitoring. Review and approve tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing setups proposed by vendors. Ensure adherence to quality standards, tolerances, and material specifications. Support in negotiating manufacturing timelines, pricing, and delivery schedules. Handle first-article inspections (FAI), pre-dispatch inspections (PDI), and root cause analysis for defects. Maintain documentation related to vendor audits, approvals, and quality reports. Collaborate with internal R&D and design teams for feedback and design improvements. Qualifications and Skills: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Knowledge of electric motor components: stator, rotor, shaft, housing, etc. Familiarity with manufacturing processes: CNC, casting, lamination stamping, winding, Injection Molding etc. Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and quality standards. Proficient in CAD tools (SolidWorks, CATIA). Excellent communication and negotiation skills to handle vendors effectively. Ability to travel to vendor locations for inspections and audits. Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in vendor development or sourcing of motor parts. Exposure to EV motor technologies (BLDC, PMSM, or SRM).
