The Mainframe Systems Technical Lead will serve as the senior technical authority for the support, maintenance, and enhancement of IBM z/OS mainframe environments. This role involves leading a team of systems engineers, overseeing the installation and upgrade of critical mainframe tools, and ensuring the

stability and performance of core systems such as DB2, CICS, RACF, CA7, and Endevor. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Technical Lead to oversee the design, development, and maintenance of mainframe applications. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, ensure system reliability, and collaborate with teams to optimize mainframe performance.

• Provide on-call technical support for applications and systems for Critical P1 Incidents
• Maintain systems documentation
• Lead technical discussions and training of systems level teams
• Experience with mainframe IBM zOS systems
• Knowledge and experience with systems level support of DB2 and CICS
• Experience with mainframe environment such as TSO, dasd and virtual tape storage, Sysplex,

mainframe network (understanding connectivity and IP sockets, proxies, SSL, and general packet

transport)

• Support of installation and upgrade of mainframe third party tools such as CA Endevor, CA7 Scheduler, IBM utilities
• Support and installation with applying IBM RSU Maintenance and HIPER Maintenance concepts
• Analytical skills for problem solving, and ability to think creatively for solutions/ideas with a

continuous improvement mind set

• Excellent communication and presentation skills required
• Ability to organize tasks and react to shifting priorities required
• Ability to identify, recommend and resolve solutions to problems is required

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of mainframe systems engineers in the support and enhancement of IBM z/OS environments.
• Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical P1 incidents, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal business impact.
• Oversee the installation, configuration, and upgrade of third-party tools including CA7 Scheduler, CA Endevor, and IBM utilities.
• Manage and apply IBM RSU and HIPER maintenance updates to ensure system security and stability.
• Maintain comprehensive systems documentation and ensure knowledge transfer across the team.
• Conduct technical training sessions and lead discussions to elevate team capabilities.
• Support and troubleshoot DB2 and CICS environments, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
• Manage mainframe infrastructure components including TSO, DASD, virtual tape storage, Sysplex, and network connectivity (IP sockets, proxies, SSL).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify, recommend, and implement system improvements.
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or equivalent

experience).

• 7+ years of experience in mainframe systems engineering with at least 2 years in a technical leadership role.
• Expert-level knowledge of IBM z/OS, DB2, CICS, RACF, and related tools.
• Hands-on experience with CA7 Scheduler, CA Endevor, and IBM utilities.
• Strong understanding of mainframe networking, including IP connectivity, SSL, and packet transport.
• Proven experience applying IBM RSU and HIPER maintenance.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Highly organized with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications in mainframe technologies or system administration.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and incident management.
