Job description

  • Deliver direct patient care including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Monitor and record patients' vital signs and condition, reporting any changes promptly.
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely.
  • Assist doctors during rounds and in implementing medical plans.
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care, as required.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation using appropriate hospital systems.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Promote patient safety and uphold infection control protocols.
  • Support patients with personal care, mobility, nutrition, and emotional needs.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, nursing students, or healthcare assistants.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies and participate in resuscitation efforts.
  • Contribute to discharge planning and patient education.
  • Maintain patient dignity, confidentiality, and rights at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, monitor, and care for patients during all stages of labor and delivery.
  • Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rates, contractions, and overall progress.
  • Administer medications, including labor-inducing drugs and epidurals (with anesthesiologist support).
  • Assist physicians or midwives during vaginal and cesarean births.
  • Manage complications such as hemorrhage, preeclampsia, or fetal distress promptly.
  • Provide emotional and physical support to patients and families during labor.
  • Document all assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes accurately.
  • Educate mothers and families about labor, delivery, pain management, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery.
  • Conduct postpartum assessments and care for mothers during recovery.
  • Support immediate newborn care, including APGAR scoring and newborn stabilization.
  • Maintain sterile and safe environments, adhering to infection control policies.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team, including OB/GYNs, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, and neonatal nurses.
