Job Description: Head of Quality Foundry (Sand & Centrifugal Casting) 23/06/25 Location: Nitin Castings Limited Vapi & Silvassa Department: Quality Assurance / Quality Control Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO) Experience Required: Minimum 15 years of experience in quality leadership within a foundry environment. Educational Qualification: • Diploma with a minimum of 20 years of relevant experience OR • Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering with at least 15 years of experience • Preferred: NDT Level II/III certification and Welding Inspection certification (CSWIP / AWS) Job Purpose: To lead and manage the quality function for sand and centrifugal casting operations, ensuring high product quality, customer satisfaction, continuous process improvement, and compliance with applicable industry standards and customer specifications, including welded components. Key Responsibilities: 1. Quality Management: • Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 • Ensure adherence to quality standards throughout casting and welding operations • Conduct and manage internal, customer, and third-party audits 2. Casting and Welding Quality Oversight: • Define and enforce quality control procedures for sand and centrifugal casting processes • Supervise quality checks and process audits in welding operations (SMAW, TIG, GTAW, etc.) • Review and approve Weld Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualifications 3. Inspection and Testing: • Oversee dimensional inspection, metallurgical testing, and mechanical property verification • Manage NDT activities (UT, RT, PT, DP) as per applicable codes (ASME, ASTM, API, EN, etc.) • Ensure traceability and maintain comprehensive documentation, including MTCs, test reports, and inspection records 4. Root Cause Analysis & Process Improvement: • Lead problem-solving activities using tools such as 8D, 5 Why, FMEA, CAPA • Monitor and improve key quality KPIs such as rejection rates, customer complaints, and internal defects 5. Customer and Supplier Management: • Act as the primary quality contact for key customers and stakeholders • Handle customer audits, quality documentation, and complaint resolution • Evaluate and audit suppliers to ensure quality performance and compliance 6. Team Leadership and Development: • Lead, mentor, and develop the QA/QC team • Conduct technical training and awareness programs on quality and process control • Foster a strong quality culture across all departments
