We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our advanced defense technology team in Hyderabad. The successful candidate will play a critical role in leading mechanical design and development efforts for missile systems and rocketry projects, working closely with cross-functional teams involved in propulsion, aerodynamics, structures, and guidance systems. Preference will be given to candidates with a background in DRDO labs or DRDO-supported missile programs. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead end-to-end mechanical design, integration, and testing of missile systems and sub-systems (e.g., propulsion, launchers, airframes, actuators). Collaborate with structural, thermal, and systems engineers to ensure design optimization under extreme conditions. Oversee CAD modeling, FEA analysis, and tolerance stack-up for high-speed flight components. Review and approve mechanical drawings, specifications, and BoMs in accordance with MIL and DRDO standards. Coordinate with DRDO agencies, vendors, and internal teams for design validation, prototyping, and field trials. Manage technical documentation including design reports, DVP&R, FMEA, and compliance to AS9100/ISRO/DRDO standards. Lead root cause analysis and design iterations based on test feedback (ground tests, wind tunnel, environmental testing). Support technology transfer, manufacturing scale-up, and production readiness activities. Mentor junior engineers and contribute to strategic planning of new mechanical initiatives. KEY QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors/Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized institution. 15+ years of experience in mechanical design and development, with a minimum of 5 years in DRDO missile/rocketry projects (e.g., Akash, Astra, Nirbhay, Agni, etc.). Proficient in Creo, CATIA, or SolidWorks and FEA tools like ANSYS, HyperMesh. Strong understanding of materials, structural dynamics, high-temperature components, and vibration/fatigue behavior. Experience working with propulsion systems (solid or liquid), launch canisters, or missile ground support systems is highly desirable. Excellent understanding of defense QA/QC procedures and documentation. Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
