Job Description

Role Description: As a DB2 Database Administrator within the architecture team you will support development projects in dealing with persistent data on the mainframe. The target is to help them persisting data in the group-wide central DB2 system on the mainframe by defining technical data models, indices and efficient SQL statements. Furthermore you help them to improve the performance of their applications as far as DB2 is concerned. Evaluating new features of new DB2 versions is part of the job to prepare recommendations for their usage within the groups application landscape. Operation control is not part of this position we are architects, not operators. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities: The field of activity in the technical architecture unit includes all activities of a database administrator with a focus on DB2, in detail. By far the most important point: Maintenance of database structures and implementation of database changes With increasing experience in our environment and specialties: Collaboration in the creation of physical database models Quality assurance of physical database models Quality assurance of SQL Supporting the solution of SQL performance problems Assist developers in formulating complex queries Assist users in QMF issues Train application developers and business staff Investigate new DB2 features according usability in the group Key Competencies & Skills required Technical Skills: Experienced in mainframe software development preferred under IMS Good Cobol knowledge, Very good SQL knowledge. Experience in database management, DB2 preferred. Experience with data modelling (entity-relationship modelling) and database modelling, ideally with ERwin. Ideally experience with BMC Catalog Manager and BMC Change Manager. APPTUNE Behavioral Skills: Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills relevant to the role. Willingness to learn and quickly adapt to changing requirements. Proactive approach to identifying issues and presenting solutions and options Ability to direct and guide teams as relevant Previous Experience & Qualifications Minimum Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science /Engineering/Information Technology Candidate with non-computer science degree must have minimum 1 year of relevant experience MBA in IT / Insurance/Finance can also apply for Requirements Engineer and Test Engineer role.
