Key Responsibilities

Editorial Leadership and Content Strategy

• Define and execute a content vision that aligns with Mumbais cultural, political, and social dynamics while connecting to global contexts.

• Curate daily/weekly content calendars focused on trending local news, civic issues, entertainment, and global stories impacting Mumbai.

• Anticipate news cycles, viral trends, and audience interests to prioritize high-impact stories.

Content Creation and Formatting Expertise

• Oversee the production of engaging, multi-format content (articles, explainers, reels, infographics) tailored for digital platforms.

• Ensure all content is formatted for readability, visual appeal, and platform-specific requirements (e.g., mobile-first layouts, CMS optimization).

• Guide the team in blending text, visuals, and multimedia to enhance storytelling.

SEO and Social-First Publishing

• Implement SEO best practices (keyword research, metadata optimization) to maximize organic reach.

• Adapt content for social platforms (Instagram, X, Facebook) using platform-native formats (Reels, Stories, Threads).

• Collaborate with designers to ensure visuals align with SEO and social-sharing trends.

News Sense and Audience Development

• Monitor Mumbais pulselocal politics, infrastructure updates, festivals, and civic issues—to identify underreported angles.

• Train the team to write headlines and summaries that balance accuracy with shareability.

• Analyze audience behavior to refine content tonality, pacing, and depth.

Team Guidance and Quality Control

• Lead a team of writers, editors, and formatting specialists, ensuring adherence to journalistic ethics and brand voice.

• Conduct workshops on modern content practices, including SEO writing, CMS tools (WordPress), and data-driven storytelling.

• Review and approve final content for factual accuracy, clarity, and technical compliance.

Analytics and Iterative Improvement

• Track performance metrics (page views, social shares, time-on-page) using Google Analytics and CMS dashboards.

• Identify high-performing content and replicate success through templatized formats.

• Address underperforming content by adjusting angles, formatting, or distribution strategies.

Requirements

Mandatory

• Non-negotiable: Deep familiarity with Mumbai’s culture, infrastructure, politics, and urban trends.

• Expertise in CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress) and SEO tools (Ahrefs, SEMrush).

• Proficiency in formatting content for diverse platforms (e.g., structuring articles with subheadings, bullet points, and pull quotes).

• Strong news judgment and ability to simplify complex topics for digital audiences.

• Fluency in English, Hindi, and Marathi for nuanced storytelling and community engagement.
