Essential Responsibilities:
Database Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and upgrade SQL Server instances (all versions) across various environments (Dev, QA, UAT, Prod).
Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions for query optimization, indexing strategies, and database configuration to ensure optimal performance.
Backup & Recovery: Design, implement, and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability, including disaster recovery planning and execution.
Security Management: Manage database security, including user permissions, roles, authentication, and encryption, adhering to security policies and compliance requirements.
High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage high availability solutions such as AlwaysOn Availability Groups.
Troubleshooting & Support: Provide expert-level troubleshooting for database-related issues, including connectivity, performance, and data corruption, offering timely resolution.
Monitoring & Alerting: Implement and maintain database monitoring tools and alerts to proactively identify and address potential issues.
Capacity Planning: Monitor database growth and resource utilization, performing capacity planning to ensure scalability and future needs are met.
Data Integrity & Corruption Checks: Implement and regularly perform data integrity checks to detect and resolve database corruption, ensuring data consistency and reliability.
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop, maintain, and regularly update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all database administration tasks and processes.
Additional Responsibilities
Collaborate with development teams to optimize database designs and SQL queries for new applications and features.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours and holiday support of critical production systems.
Stay current with the latest SQL Server technologies, features, and industry best practices.
Assist in the evaluation and implementation of new database technologies and tools.
Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members or developers on database best practices.
Develop, refine, and maintain SQL scripts for automation of routine DBA tasks.
Participate in auditing and compliance activities related to data management.
Support multiple concurrent projects, managing priorities and deadlines effectively.
Collaborate with other teams during incident calls to diagnose and resolve database-related issues.
Manage and prioritize database-related tickets through a formal ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution.
Bonus Skills:
Experience with SSAS, SSIS, and SSRS
