Role OverviewWe are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Linux/Unix Infrastructure Lead (SME) with 810 years of experience to lead and mentor a team of Linux administrators. The candidate will act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) across multiple Linux distributions (Debian, RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE, Oracle Linux) and Unix variants (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX). This role demands both hands-on technical expertise and team leadership to ensure resilient, secure, and compliant infrastructure operations. The candidate should also bring strong knowledge of automation, configuration management, and DevOps tools to drive modernization and efficiency.________________________________________Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team ManagementLead and mentor a team of Linux/Unix administrators across multiple geographies.Assign and oversee daily BAU, incident, change, and project tasks.Serve as escalation point for critical incidents (P1/P2).Foster cross-skilling within the team for niche Unix flavors (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX).Technical Expertise (SME)Act as SME for Linux (Debian, RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, SUSE, Oracle) and Unix (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX).Manage OS lifecycle:installation, patching, upgrades, EOL remediation.Troubleshoot advanced kernel, filesystem, networking, and performance issues.Implement security hardening and compliance baselines (CIS, STIG).Manage logical volume management, clustering, and HA for critical workloads.Automation & DevOpsLead adoption of automation/configuration management tools:Ansible, Puppet, Terraform.Oversee CI/CD integration with Artifactory, Bitbucket, Octopus, GitLab, Azure DevOps, GitHub.Standardize server builds, patching, and configuration via IaC principles.Drive automation of repetitive operational tasks and self-service capabilities.Infrastructure Design & ProjectsArchitect and deliver Linux/Unix solutions aligned to business requirements.Lead migrations, upgrades, and DR/BCP readiness exercises.Integrate Linux/Unix workloads with hybrid cloud environments (Azure/AWS).Develop and maintain HLDs/LLDs, SOPs, and runbooks.Governance & ComplianceEnsure adherence to OS vendor support lifecycles to stay EOL/EOS free.Maintain patch/vulnerability compliance across all environments.Lead OEM and vendor interactions for AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, and Linux support.Ensure readiness for audits and regulatory requirements (PCI, GDPR, SOX).________________________________________Required Skills & Experience810 years of hands-on experience in Linux/Unix infrastructure management.Strong expertise in at least three Linux distributions and working knowledge across all listed.Proven experience with AIX, Solaris, and HP-UX administration.Proficiency in automation/configuration tools (Ansible, Puppet, Terraform).Strong CI/CD pipeline exposure with Artifactory, Bitbucket, Octopus, GitLab, Azure DevOps, GitHub.Expertise in patching, clustering, storage integration, and troubleshooting.Experience in leading large-scale migrations, OS upgrades, and DR readiness projects.Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus. Qualification 15 years full time education
