Simply put, the Sr. Engineer - Validation & Application Engineering is responsible for all technical aspects of our interface with the customer. Multi-tasking and time management are critical.

Testing & Validation:

• Responsible for Test Planning, Test Case Design & Test Execution.
• Compliance Testing: Ensure that the relays/IEDs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations, such as IEC 61850, IEEE, IEC and others. Perform tests to validate compliance.
• Documentation: Maintain detailed records of test results, procedures, and test configurations. Document any issues and their resolutions.
• Reporting: Generate test reports summarizing the results and findings of validation tests.
• Communicate the status and progress to the R&D team.
• Root Cause Analysis: Investigate and diagnose issues discovered during testing, and work with
• the development team to identify and resolve root causes.
• Continuous Improvement: Suggest process improvements, tools, or methodologies that can
• enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the validation process.

Application Engineering:

• Provide technical support and expertise in the selection, configuration, and application of protective relays and control systems.
• Assist in the design and implementation of relay protection schemes and settings based on system requirements.
• Collaborate with design engineers to ensure that relay protection systems are integrated effectively into the overall electrical design.
• Provide technical guidance and support to customers and field personnel on relay applications and troubleshooting.

Field Support:

• Travel to client sites to perform relay testing, Application support, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities.
• Provide on-site technical support and resolve issues related to relay protection and control systems.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams to ensure successful project execution.

Training and Development:

• Conduct training sessions for clients and internal teams on relay testing, protection schemes, and application engineering.
• Stay updated with the latest developments in relay protection technology and industry standards.
• Providing technical support to Sales team by giving presentations and attending trade shows.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experiences.
• Minimum 6+ years working knowledge of electric power systems and practices and philosophies
• Working knowledge of protective relay application at utility or engineering firm and industry practices
• Experience with EMTP, load flow and short circuit studies
• Passion for our customers to see them and ERL succeed.
• Excellent technical training, speaking and writing skills
• Ability to work cooperatively in team environment
• Very strong computer and business software skills
• Exceptional organization and "get it done" skills

Preferred Technical Qualifications:

• Experience with electric power transmission, distribution, and generation systems
• Experience in power systems protective relay and fault recorder use involving transmission lines and substations.
• Basic knowledge and experience in networking design, analysis and troubleshooting
• Knowledge of advanced communication protocols and communication system architecture.
• Experience being a part of project teams and leading teams
• Expert knowledge of system protection, integration and automation application.
