Job Title: Software Architect - Automotive Embedded Software Development

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Architect to join our team in the automotive sector. The ideal candidate will lead the design and development of cuttingedge embedded software solutions for automotive systems, focusing on safety, performance, and reliability. The Software Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and technical direction of automotive embedded systems and lead a talented team of software development engineers to successfully deliver high-quality solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Architectural Design & Strategy:

a. Define, develop, and maintain scalable and robust software architectures for embedded systems used in automotive applications. Drive architectural decisions to optimize system performance, reliability and maintability.

b. Lead the selection and implementation of appropriate software development methodologies (Agile, VModel) and ensure industry standards are met (ISO 26262, ISO 21434, AUTOSAR).

c. Collaborate with cross functional teams (hardware, systems, and Testing) to ensure seamless integration of software and hardware components.

d. Ensure the software architecture supports key automotive attributes, such as real-time performance, safety, security, and fault tolerance.

2. Leadership & Team Development:

a. Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of embedded software engineers, ensuring high performance, skill development, and fostering a collaborative environment.

b. Drive technical excellence within the team by establishing coding standards, best practices, and efficient development processes.

c. Provide technical direction and oversight to ensure that project milestones and deadlines are met.

3. Requirements Analysis & Specification:

a. Work closely with stakeholders (product owners, systems engineers, and customers) to gather and analyze functional and nonfunctional requirements.

b. Translate requirements into architectural and design specifications, ensuring alignment with the overall product vision and objectives.

4. Software Development & Integration:

a. Oversee the implementation, integration, and validation of embedded software components within the automotive systems.

b. Conduct regular code reviews, maintain code quality standards, and ensure proper documentation.

c. Develop and maintain comprehensive testing strategies (unit tests, integration tests, etc.), jointly with test lead and Systems Engineer to verify software functionality, performance, and safety.

5. RFQ Management:

a. Provide accurate estimates for project resources and timelines.

6. Collaboration & Communication:

a. Serve as the primary technical point of contact for automotive software related inquiries.

b. Collaborate with external vendors and partners to ensure compatibility and integration with third-party software and hardware components.

c. Present technical solutions and roadmaps to both internal and external stakeholders.

7. Continuous Improvement & Innovation:

a. Stay up to date with the latest developments in embedded software, automotive industry trends, and emerging technologies (AI, ML, IoT).

b. Identify and implement improvements to the software development lifecycle and engineering practices.

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelors or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related.

2. 10-14 years of experience in automotive software development, with at least 4-6 years in a leadership or architecture role.

3. Extensive experience in automotive embedded systems (ADAS, BMS, Motor Control, Powertrain, telematics, etc.).

4. Deep knowledge of embedded C programming languages, Realtime Operating Systems (RTOS), in AUTOSAR and non-AUTOSAR environment.

5. Strong understanding of automotive cybersecurity (ISO 21342) and functional safety (ISO 26262).

6. Experience with communication protocols commonly used in automotive applications (CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, Ethernet, J1939, SPI, UART, UDS, OBD-II, CCP, XCP, etc.).

7. Familiarity with software development tools (e.g., version control, debugging, and testing tools).

8. Proven track record of leading and mentoring technical teams.

9. Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.

10. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience with safety critical and mission critical systems development.

2. Knowledge of software modelling tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).

3. Familiarity with agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).

4. Experience with the integration of AI/ML technologies in automotive applications.

5. Knowledge of automotive connectivity standards (e.g., V2X, 5G).
