Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

Database Administration

• Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances, ensuring high availability and performance
• Configure and manage SSRS, including scale-out deployments
• Implement and maintain HA/DR solutions (Always On Availability Groups, failover clustering)
• Perform database backups, recovery operations, indexing, statistics updates, and reorganization/rebuilds
• Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues using Query Store, DMVs, and other tools
• Implement database security measures (access control, encryption, auditing) and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations
• Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell or SQL scripts
• Collaborate with infrastructure teams to ensure seamless database integration with servers and networks
  

Upgrades and Patching

• Plan and execute SQL Server upgrades (in-place and side-by-side migrations)
• Apply service packs, cumulative updates, and security patches
• Conduct compatibility testing during upgrade cycles
  

SSIS & SSAS Administration

• Develop, deploy, and optimize SSIS packages for ETL processes
• Maintain and tune SSAS cubes for reporting and analytics
• Work with developers to align SSIS/SSAS solutions with business needs
  

AWS Cloud Integration

• Deploy and manage SQL Server databases on AWS (RDS, EC2)
• Utilize AWS services (CloudWatch, IAM, S3) for monitoring and backup
• Migrate on-premises databases to AWS using AWS DMS or SQL-native methods
  

Security & Compliance

• Implement best practices for user roles, permissions, and encryption
• Conduct regular security audits and remediate vulnerabilities
  

Latest SQL Server Features

• Leverage Intelligent Query Processing, Accelerated Database Recovery, and In-Memory OLTP for performance gains
• Explore SQL Server Machine Learning Services for advanced analytics
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 5–6 years as an MSSQL DBA with expertise in SQL Server 2019 and 2022
• Proven experience in upgrades, migrations, and cloud integration (AWS and Azure preferred)
• Strong proficiency in T-SQL, PowerShell scripting, and performance tuning
• Hands-on knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking concepts
• Familiarity with version control tools (Git) for database scripts
• Willingness to provide 24x7 production support on rotation
  

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
• Experience with PL/SQL and MySQL
• Familiarity with SolarWinds SQL Sentry or custom database health monitoring tools
