Post Silicon Validation Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Develop Validation Plans:

Create comprehensive plans to test the chip's functionality, performance, and power in real-world scenarios.

• Write Test Cases:

Design and implement test cases, often using scripting languages like Python, to validate the chip's behavior against its specifications.

• Silicon Bring-Up & Debugging:

Bring up new silicon in the lab, debug issues using tools like JTAG or CoreSight, and identify hardware failures.

• Root-Cause Analysis:

Analyze silicon failures and work with design teams to find and resolve defects.

• Automate Testing:

Develop automation scripts for test execution, data collection, and performance monitoring to streamline the validation process.

• Collaborate with Teams:

Work closely with cross-functional teams, including design and product engineering, to ensure complete test coverage and timely issue resolution.

• ATE Test Program Development:

Develop, debug, and optimize test programs that run on Automatic Test Equipment for mass production.

• Support Product Qualification:

Contribute to the overall product qualification process and yield analysis.

• Lab Infrastructure:

Contribute to setting up and maintaining the necessary lab infrastructure for silicon validation.

Essential Skills & Tools

• Programming:

  Proficiency in Python and C/C++ for test development and automation.

• Debugging Tools:

  Familiarity with JTAG, CoreSight, I2C, SPI, UART, and hardware debuggers.

• Lab Equipment:

  Experience using oscilloscopes, signal analyzers, and signal generators.

• Domain Knowledge:

  Understanding of ARM processors, embedded firmware, and IC design principles is often required.

• Embedded Systems:

  Knowledge of embedded systems and complex SoCs (System-on-Chips).
