Job Description

Role & responsibilities

Database Administration & Operations

  • Design, administer, support, and maintain complex database systems (Oracle & Microsoft SQL Server).
  • Monitor system resource usage, device allocations, and database growth to support capacity planning.
  • Implement performance-tuning enhancements.
  • Conduct regular database maintenance, monitoring, and auditing for efficiency and quality control.

Security & Compliance

  • Apply and manage database and application security, including all access procedures.
  • Work with Information Security Officer to ensure appropriate security levels for sensitive data.
  • Conduct regular access reviews and manage authorizations.
  • Understand and comply with customer policies, laws, and regulations (including BSA/AML).

Backup & Recovery

  • Implement, maintain, and report on database backup and restore procedures.
  • Ensure fast and complete recovery from backup files.

Process & Policy Adherence

  • Interpret and ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to SLA response and resolution times; ensure timely escalation of issues as per the defined matrix.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of database configurations, procedures, and usage.

Team Collaboration & Development

  • Plan, coordinate, and delegate tasks appropriately to team members.
  • Train and mentor junior database administrators.
  • Coordinate and facilitate professional development and performance appraisals.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Utilize UNIX shell scripting for automation and operational tasks.
  • Communicate technical content effectively with internal teams and vendors.
  • Follow ITSM processes for incident, problem, and change management.
  • Manage call logging, tracking, and closure procedures effectively.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong working knowledge of Oracle Database/SQL in core banking environments.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Strong problem determination and resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of ITSM processes and compliance standards in the BFSI sector.
  • Familiarity with UNIX shell scripting.
