Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain PostgreSQL databases.
Monitor performance and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations.
Implement and maintain database security policies.
Manage backup and recovery to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
Perform patching and version upgrades with minimal downtime.
Support HA and DR solutions (replication, failover).
Collaborate with developers for query and schema optimization.
Troubleshoot issues and provide root cause analysis.
Maintain documentation for architecture, processes, and procedures.
Participate in on-call rotation for critical support.

Required Skills & Experience:

35 years of PostgreSQL DBA experience in production environments.
Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, internals, and performance tuning.
Proficiency in SQL and PL/pgSQL optimization.
Experience with replication, partitioning, and clustering.
Knowledge of backup/recovery strategies (pg_dump, pg_basebackup, WAL archiving).
Familiarity with monitoring tools (pgAdmin, Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana).
Hands-on experience with Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu).
Knowledge of database security best practices.
Exposure to automation tools like Ansible is a plus.

Qualifications:

PostgreSQL certifications (e.g., EDB PostgreSQL Associate/Professional) preferred.

Ability to work independently and in a team.
Good communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
