The Role

As Head of Engineering, you'll lead 30 technologists, championing our AI-augmented culture while executing the CTO's vision. This is a hands-on leadership position where you'll review code, drive TDD adoption, and scale systems 10x, all while fostering a kind, high-performance environment with timezone flexibility for US founder calls. We're in-office 5 days a week in Koramangala to enable deep collaboration and team growth non-negotiable for our culture.

What You'll Do

- Lead and grow 30 exceptional technologists, understanding each individual's strengths, aspirations, and career paths through regular one-on-ones.

- Champion AI-first practices, ensuring engineers use tools like Claude Code for faster shipping and higher quality.

- Evangelise test-driven development as a core belief, enhanced by AI for predictive debugging and automated reviews.

- Review critical PRs across our stack: Golang microservices, React/Next.js frontends, and Terraform infrastructure.

- Execute technical vision, scaling for hundreds of thousands of users with sub-second response times.

- Own AI-augmented CI/CD pipelines that predict failures and suggest fixes.

- Shield the team from startup chaos, balancing intensity with focus and well-being.

- Drive engineering excellence, introducing AI tools to boost velocity without compromising quality.

- Navigate timezone differences, joining occasional early or late calls with US founders.

What You Bring (Non-Negotiables)

- 10+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years leading teams of 20+ and proven high retention.

- Hands-on AI development experience with tools like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor.

- Track record shipping SaaS products at scale, not just managing projects.

- Technical fluency: Review Golang code, understand React/Next.js decisions, navigate Terraform/AWS, debug CI/CD.

- Passionate advocate for TDD and AI transformation in development.

- Startup experience with 5x+ team growth, managing $2M+ budgets.

- Timezone flexibility for US interactions; based in Bangalore with a short and reasonable commute to Koramangala (no relocations).
