Description:

The Global Database Administrator is responsible for installation, maintenance and support of miscellaneous database platforms to ensure the operation of global systems in order to provide performance and availability for its users, such as staff, customers and suppliers. Addiotionally works with Engineering departments to collaborate on the optimization of previous designs and or new platform implementations. Database Administrators work to ensure that the database works properly and available for use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for end-users seeking technical support related to Databases.
  • Manages successful & failed backups and maintenance jobs.
  • Test and Applies to pre-production and production environments. 
  • Establish needs of users and monitor users access and security.
  • Monitor the performance of the different database engines and the availability of the databases for the end user.
  • Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for new databases.
  • Develop,manage and test backup and recovery plans. 
  • Control access permissions and privileges.

Functional Competencies:

  • Interacts with both remote and onsite end users via calls, chat, and electronic form, regarding IT issues and queries. 
  • Good, organization, teamwork, and negotiation skills.
  • Help the team to define of improve existing process (backups, daily jobs, drp, etc).
  • Willing to learn from the other DB administrators roles.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Teamwork and remote work skills.
  • Fast adaptation to technology changes.
  • Troubleshooting - Provide 'On Call' support, to troubleshoot any database issues as and when they arise. 
  • Informs Sr. Database Administrator support of incidents affecting service interruption.

Qualifications:

  •  Minimum 2+ years of IT operations with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and best practices.
  • Excellent customer/client handling skills. 
  • B1/B2 - English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database problems using native & third party monitoring and troubleshooting tools. Good problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of and proficiency with the following: SQL Server, MySql, Postgres, MongoDB, redis (prefered).
  • Knowledge in Cloud interaction in any of these technologies: GCP, Azure, AWS. (prefered)
