Job Description

As a member of the Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) team, the main responsibility is to work on application-related projects, support cloud migrations, and implement best practices. The role involves collaborating on project activities such as database upgrades, security, troubleshooting, and ensuring smooth integration across different database platforms within AXA XL.

What You'll Be DOING

What will your essential responsibilities include
  • Manage and maintain Oracle E-Business Suite 12.2.14, Oracle Database 19c, and Data Warehouse environments, ensuring optimal performance and stability on Oracle Database @ Azure (OD@A).
  • Administer Exadata hardware, leveraging expertise in performance tuning and system optimization.
  • Perform database backup and restore operations using RMAN and Data Pump as well as cloud utilities.
  • Execute patching, upgrades, and security management tasks to ensure system integrity.
  • Support troubleshooting and environment management through outstanding Unix/Linux skills.
  • Automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency.
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments, including Oracle Cloud, Azure, and other public clouds, supporting hybrid cloud strategies.
  • Good understanding of Oracle Database on Azure (preferred).
  • Installing and configuring Oracle Database in a stand-alone, clustered and Always On environments along with database replication and mirroring on Oracle Database at Azure.
  • Assisting with Oracle Database Assessment/Planning/Migration/Upgrades/Automation/Performance Tuning, etc.
  • Plan and Execute the Database/Analysis Services/Reporting Services/Integration Services Migration to Oracle Cloud DB.
  • Expertise in database troubleshooting, performance tuning, query tuning of SQL/T-SQL, partitioning, file group.
  • Work resiliently and in co-ordination with other application developers to investigate, analyse and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement strategic projects and system enhancements.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate technical issues in simple terms.
  • Performing database capacity management, Handling database incidents and root cause analysis.
  • Recovering databases during Disaster Recovery testing and incidents.
  • Liaising with Project Managers, Developers, Application Support, Release, infrastructure teams to ensure database integrity, security and performance.
You will report to Application Manager.

What You Will BRING

We're looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

Required Skills And Abilities

  • Relevant years of experience in Oracle RDBMS, Oracle Datawarehouse, E-Business Suite.
  • Relevant years of experience designing, implementing, and managing High Availability database solutions.
  • Cloud: Relevant years of hands-on experience working in Azure, including platforms such as Oracle Database, ADF, ADLS, Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
  • Exposure to migrating existing Oracle Database Server (on-premises) data loads to Azure Cloud.
  • Effective working knowledge of SQL scripting and programming as well as Unix scripting.
  • Knowledge of IT Operations and support organizations would be advantageous.
  • Ability to work resiliently with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with third-party database auditing and performance monitoring solutions.
  • Relevant years of experience producing technical documentation.
  • Prior experience with performance tuning, query plan analysis, and indexing.
  • Experience with backups and restores using RMAN, Autonomous Recovery Service, or similar tools is a plus.

  • Experience with automation scripting (e.g., PowerShell, Python) to streamline database management tasks.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for database environments, including encryption, access controls, and vulnerability mitigation.
  • Experience with data governance and compliance standards, ensuring databases adhere to organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity with cloud security protocols and best practices for Azure and hybrid environments.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively document technical solutions and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to handle evolving project priorities and emerging technologies.
  • Continuous learning mindset to stay updated with the latest database trends, tools, and best practices.
  • Team collaboration and mentoring skills, capable of sharing knowledge and supporting junior team members.
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning and implementation to ensure data integrity and availability in various scenarios.
