Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the Assistant General Manager (AGM) MEP. This role is pivotal in overseeing the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems for large-scale construction projects, ensuring that all MEP installations are completed in accordance with project specifications, safety regulations, and timelines. The AGM – MEP will lead a team of engineers and technicians while collaborating with other project teams to drive operational excellence and maintain cost and quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
MEP Project Oversight:
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of MEP systems for construction projects, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and technical specifications.
- Oversee the coordination of MEP systems design and implementation across all phases of the construction process.
- Collaborate with project managers, architects, and civil engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems.
Team Leadership & Management:
- Manage and mentor a team of MEP engineers, supervisors, and technicians, ensuring effective team collaboration and optimal performance.
- Set clear expectations, assign tasks, and conduct regular reviews to ensure that all project milestones are achieved.
- Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the MEP team.
MEP Design and Engineering:
- Review and approve MEP designs and drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with design consultants and contractors to resolve technical issues and optimize MEP systems for performance and energy efficiency.
- Ensure all MEP designs meet client specifications, environmental considerations, and sustainability goals.
Cost & Budget Management:
- Develop and manage the MEP project budgets, ensuring that all expenditures are within project limits.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or safety.
- Review material and equipment specifications to ensure cost-effective procurement.
Procurement & Vendor Management:
- Oversee the procurement of MEP materials, equipment, and services, ensuring timely delivery and quality compliance.
- Evaluate and manage relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to contractual terms and project schedules.
- Ensure the timely resolution of any issues related to procurement, quality control, or vendor performance.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Ensure all MEP systems are installed in compliance with local codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor MEP installation quality and adherence to project specifications.
- Implement corrective actions to address any deficiencies identified during inspections or audits.
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution:
- Address and resolve any MEP-related issues or discrepancies on-site, working closely with the project team to identify solutions.
- Provide technical support and guidance to solve complex MEP-related challenges.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for any system failures or delays in MEP operations.
Sustainability & Innovation:
- Implement energy-efficient solutions and sustainable MEP practices to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in MEP technologies and trends to incorporate innovative solutions in projects.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintain comprehensive records of all MEP activities, including design changes, procurement, approvals, and inspections.
- Prepare and present regular progress reports to senior management, highlighting milestones, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Ensure proper documentation for quality control, regulatory compliance, and future project reference.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or a related field.Experience:
Minimum 15 years of experience in MEP engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in the construction/real estate sector.Skills:
- Expertise in MEP systems design, installation, and maintenance.
- Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and other MEP-related systems.
- Proficiency in MEP software (AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, etc.) and MS Office Suite.
- Strong project management skills, with experience in managing multiple MEP projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Desired Competencies:
- Problem-solving ability, with a focus on practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex MEP systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

- Knowledge of green building practices and sustainable construction methods is a plus.
