Key Responsibilities

As the Team Lead – Software Development, you will:

  • Lead a team of software developers, providing technical guidance, mentorship to bright Athena scholars across the globe.
  • Drive end-to-end ideation, development, testing, and deployment of scalable applications built by the Athena scholars.
  • Oversee projects across multiple domains including web and mobile app development (React Native), AI/ML applications, and game development, ensuring best-in-class execution.
  • Interact with premium Athena clients and manage any quality concerns with the technical projects.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Consulting, Writing, Operations, Knowledge Centre) to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
  • QC, refine, and elevate software applications to ensure they meet professional-grade standards before delivery to clients.
  • Ensure code quality, best practices, and architecture standards across the team.
  • Oversee project management aspects including task allocation, sprint planning, and delivery timelines.
  • Conduct regular code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting for critical applications.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and evaluate their applicability to Athena’s business context.
  • Balance hands-on coding responsibilities with leadership and project management duties.


Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field from a top institution.
  • 5–8 years of professional experience in software development, with at least 2+ years in a team lead/managerial role.
  • Strong command over full-stack development (front-end, back-end, databases, APIs).
  • Knowledge of modern tech stacks (e.g., JavaScript React, Node.js, Python, Java, SQL/NoSQL databases, AWS/GCP/Azure, Unity and Unlead).
  • Experience in domains such as mobile development (React Native), AI/ML development, or game development.
  • Solid understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and scalable systems.
  • Proven experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to mentor, inspire, and grow a team of developers, while ensuring output meets professional-grade quality standards.
