Key accountabilities of this role
- Installation, configuration, improvement, and monitoring of new systems
- Engineer and deliver innovative solutions to facilitate robust and secure interfaces between technologies with a focus on process and/or cost efficiencies
- Physical Hardware Deployments
- Scoping of requirements for physical deployments of new compute systems
- Develop and facilitate rack and cabling uplifts to meet deployment requirements
- On-premises installation and commissioning of new systems
3. Provide technical advice on capabilities and capacity to deliver business Server Management
- Provide technical leadership for application and hardware components of the Telco Infrastructure
- Support operating system and application configuration of Telco servers
- Support the Telco IT hardware and software applications
- Development and maintenance of systems documentation for the above systems in accordance with standards and guidelines
- Responding to incidents escalated from the service desk and other areas in the organisation
- Monthly reporting of system performance metrics
- Engineer and deliver innovative solutions to facilitate robust interfaces between old and new technologies
4. Telco Systems Security
- Liaise with Telco Technology and Corporate Cybersecurity teams
- Support operating system and application vulnerability management activities of Telco servers
- Participate in development and delivery of initiatives to uplift cybersecurity across Telco assets
5. Change Management
- Manage scheduling of systems outages to minimise business disruption in consultation with IT and Telco stakeholders
- Follow Change Management procedures to document and execute scheduled changes
- Provide customer-focused, proactive support in the areas of problem and change management
6. Health, Safety and Environment
- Ensure that all Health, Safety and Environment Systems and goals are adhered to while meeting the organisations policies and standards for HSE Management

Technical
- Advanced knowledge in Linux and Windows Systems
- Advanced knowledge of Virtualisation (VMware, Nutanix, Hyper-V).
- Proficient in automation and orchestration tools including Terraform, Ansible, or native cloud automation tools and associated scripting languages.
- Proficient in one or more of the following software languages: Java, Python, Go, PowerShell, BASH Proficient or familiar with cloud platforms (such as Azure or AWS), including the provisioning and maintenance of core services
- Knowledge of Storage Area Networks (SAN – Fibre Channel and iSCSI). Knowledge of Firewalls (Preferably Fortinet or Palo Alto).
- Familiarity with IT Security Principles and Risk Management. Knowledge of Backup and Recovery methodologies (including RPO and RTO) and solutions. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving and planning skills.
- Experience
7+ years’ experience in IT Administration or Engineering roles.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary or equivalent qualifications in IT, Network Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar.
