Job Description

Description

The Surgery Coder/QA will be responsible for accurately coding surgical procedures and performing quality assurance checks on coded data to ensure compliance with coding standards and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of surgical terminology and coding guidelines, along with the ability to analyze medical documentation.

Responsibilities

Review and analyze surgical documentation to ensure accurate coding and compliance with coding guidelines.
Perform quality assurance checks on coded data to verify accuracy and completeness.
Collaborate with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to clarify any discrepancies in documentation.
Stay updated on the latest coding regulations, guidelines, and procedures related to surgery.
Provide training and support to junior coders and staff as needed.
Prepare reports on coding audits and quality assurance findings.

Skills and Qualifications

Proficient in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
Strong understanding of surgical terminology and procedures.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding.
Ability to analyze complex medical information and translate it into appropriate codes.
Strong communication skills for interaction with medical staff and team members.
Certification in Medical Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS) is mandatory.
Proficient in using coding software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
