Job Description

Role Overview: As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) at Zendesk's Product Development Center of Excellence in Pune, you will be part of a team focused on building and running large-scale, fault-tolerant systems. Your role will involve engaging in the entire service lifecycle, from design to deployment, and providing guidance to engineering teams on reliability standards. You will play a key role in shaping the culture, processes, and success of the Pune site, contributing to the growth and maturity of the Product Development Center. Key Responsibilities: - Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of service, including inception, design, deployment, operation, and refinement. - Provide and institute proven practices around reliability, remediations, and incident management. - Build efficient tooling to enhance engineering teams" access to reliability benefits. - Guide engineering teams on reliability standards to proactively identify and resolve issues. - Architect highly reliable production-grade platforms and analyze and propose improvements to existing systems. - Mentor teams on technical decisions and methodologies to drive infrastructure perfection and high availability software. Qualifications Required: - 7+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or Site Reliability Engineer in a technical leadership role. - Ability to lead, partner, and collaborate cross-functionally across an engineering organization. - Proficiency in Javascript, Python, Ruby, Scala, and React frameworks. - Experience with AWS, cloud-native software design, backend systems, and Kubernetes. - Enjoyment in helping others learn and improve through pairing, code review, and tech talks. Additional Company Details: Zendesk is in the early stages of establishing a Product Development Center of Excellence in Pune, aiming to create a vibrant, innovative hub where team members transition into full-time roles. The company believes in offering a fulfilling and inclusive experience, with a hybrid way of working that combines in-person collaboration with remote work flexibility.
