Job Description

As a Senior Automation Engineer at JLL, your role will involve designing, developing, and implementing automation control systems for various industrial processes and warehouse distribution equipment. You will be responsible for maximizing equipment reliability and operational performance of equipment like conveyors, sortation systems, scanners, cameras, print and apply systems, and SCADA devices and programs. Your expertise in engineering principles, programming languages, and control system technologies will be crucial in ensuring the smooth functioning of these systems while adhering to all necessary safety policies and procedures. Your responsibilities will include being the site technical expert in automation control systems, setting automation program goals, training and mentoring Automation Engineers and Apprentices, designing and developing control systems and software programs, enforcing strict documentation processes, and working closely with client teams to optimize MHE systems and drive project implementation. You will also be required to monitor MHE metrics, provide system performance analysis, troubleshoot control systems and machinery, and escalate downtime situations when necessary. To qualify for this role, you should have a Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering, automation engineering, or relevant field, or equivalent professional experience. You should have at least 5 years of experience with PLC-controlled automation, 2 years of experience with robotics work cells, and proficiency in Ladder Logic programming from Siemens, Allen-Bradley, or Codesys PLCs. Additionally, you should possess leadership skills, advanced proficiency in verbal and written English, and the ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays. Preferred qualifications include an advanced degree in a related field and extensive experience in identifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and designing HMI and control network components, Motor Controls, SCADA systems, and various programming software platforms. You should also have experience in controls design, systems integration, field service engineering, and supporting a wide range of conveyors and sortation systems. This is a full-time position with benefits such as 401(k) matching, dental and health insurance, paid time off, and retirement plans. The work location is in Baton Rouge, LA 70801, and the ability to relocate to the same location is required. The role may involve working different shifts, including day, evening, night, and overnight shifts.
