SQL Database Administrator

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SQL Server DBA to join our team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of hands-on experience managing SQL Server databases in on-premises and cloud environments, particularly with Azure SQL Database and Azure Synapse Analytics. This role requires a deep understanding of SQL Server architecture, performance tuning, database administration, and cloud-based SQL solutions. The contractor will be responsible for maintaining, optimizing, and securing our SQL databases, as well as collaborating with other teams to ensure high availability and disaster recovery.

Required Qualifications:

• 5-10 years of experience in SQL Server database administration, including versions [SQL Server versions].
• Strong knowledge of SQL Server architecture, security, performance tuning, and high availability solutions (e.g., AlwaysOn, clustering, replication).
• Proficiency in T-SQL and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
• Experience with database backup, restore, and recovery strategies.
• Familiarity with SQL Server monitoring tools and techniques.
• Solid understanding of database design, data modeling, and query optimization.
• Knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of SQL scripting and automation using T-SQL, PowerShell, or other relevant scripting languages.
• Solid experience managing and optimizing Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, and related services (e.g., Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake).
• Hands-on experience with migrating databases between on-promise and the cloud (especially Azure environments).
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues efficiently.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: SQL Server, or equivalent.
• Experience with cloud-based SQL Server solutions (e.g., Azure SQL Database).
• Familiarity with automation tools for database management (e.g., PowerShell, automation frameworks).
