About the role

We are seeking an experienced SLS Senior Technical Consultant to head up parts of the Optimization and Governance (O&G) technical delivery team who provides expert level technical services and advice internally and externally. The O&G team provide expertise in optimisation and compliance services to clients on-premise or in the cloud, maintaining cost efficiency and savings. In your role you will be collaborating closely with teammates on advisory projects and run Software Asset Management (SAM) related managed services. This is a client-facing role requiring excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and with the Insight delivery team located in EMEA and India

As an SLS Senior Technical Consultant, you will get to:

• Own and oversee the delivery of the defined O&G solution, either in its entirety or for technical elements as part of a wide Insight services team.
• Be responsible for successful end-to-end engagement with respect to SAM and related technology; this ranges from discovery of IT environment and associated client needs, preparing and justifying technical designs and scoping recommendations, as an expert technical advisor to pre-sales through to implementation, configuration and ongoing management.
• Provide technical implementation and configuration services to clients for software asset management (SAM) engagements, both as standalone and part of managed services engagements including installation and configuration of data connections and data extract, transform and load activities.
• Work with other technical consultants to design, manage, and transform existing and future tooling solutions – includes hosted, cloud and on-premise instances.
• Initiate and drive collaboration with other consulting practices within Insight to assess, design and onboard future tooling, compliance, and optimisation solutions.
• Produce and maintain technical design documentation, including quality assurance for the work of other teammates.
• Be responsible for ensuring maintenance checks and technical review activities are performed on existing tooling platforms and installations.
• Monitor & manage technical support topics, incl escalations from client & teammates, for complex support tickets, leading resolution activities with Insight’s tooling partners.
• Apply knowledge of product evolutions and new technical offerings for practical application that benefits O&G services and Insight clients.
• Engage with and develop a relationship with the solution sales community to support pre-sales activity, including positioning and scoping of solutions.
• Be responsible for managing a portfolio of client engagements.
• Accountable for the efficiency, timeliness, and quality of the O&G technical delivery, in a manner that considers the client and Insight’s business needs.
• To proactively identify and act upon opportunities to grow O&G technical services and capabilities in a manner that supports the overall O&G strategy and adds value to Insight clients.
• Identify and/or recommend and deliver efficiencies in the work the O&G team is undertaking, through scripting, coding, and other methods. Manage day-to-day services operations, ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met and operational excellence is maintained.
• Oversee and guide the License Desk operations supporting the client.
• Ensure effective and proactive communication with client stakeholders at various levels, providing regular updates, reports, and strategic insights.
• Ensure high-quality data management and effective utilization of capabilities within client owned tooling and data repositories.
• Collaborate with internal team members to escalate, troubleshoot, and continuously improve delivery outcomes

What we’re looking for

• 5+ years proven technical background, including implementation of business software applications with a desire to develop further technical capabilities
• Proven experience of implementing, configuring, and maintaining at least one leading SAM tool. Examples include, Flexera, Snow software and ServiceNow SAM Pro)
• Proven experience working with Windows Server (Active Directory/GPO, Virtualisation, IIS / Web Services), desktop environments, cloud environments (AWS, Azure)
• Excellent written and spoken English skills are mandatory for this role
• Proven experience of SQL based technologies/software, PowerShell scripts and SQL knowledge and experience
• Track record of both leading and delivering complex SAM related technology solutions, including advisor to client technical personnel and coach to more junior teammates
• Excellent track record in working in IT operations and/or IT consulting
• Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to relate technical topics to non-technical teammates and client contacts, proven team working ethic with a desire to partner internally and externally

Desired Skills (Bonus Points):

• Market recognition of capability and relevant technical certification (e.g. Microsoft SQL, Microsoft licensing certifications, specific SAM tool certificates)
• Experience of Windows scripting (Batch, PowerShell, API’s and Power Query)
