About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer who can architect, build, and scale robust backend systems powering high-growth consumer and fintech applications. This role involves solving complex engineering challenges, optimising database performance, improving system reliability, building secure infrastructures, and contributing to data-driven product decisions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams such as product, design, and DevOps, and will play a key role in shaping the backend architecture and engineering roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

Backend Architecture & Development

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Node.js, TypeScript,

Express, Apollo GraphQL, SQL, and NoSQL databases.

• Build and optimize REST & GraphQL APIs with high performance, low latency, and

strong reliability.

• Architect microservices and modular backend components for high availability and

horizontal scalability.

Database Engineering & Optimization

• Lead end-to-end database architecture across PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Redis.

• Perform large-scale schema migrations, indexing strategies, performance tuning, query

optimisation, and replication-based setups.

• Implement caching layers using Redis, including intelligent caching strategies.

Infrastructure, DevOps & and Security

• Manage production-ready infrastructure on AWS (EC2, RDS, S3, CloudFront).

• Implement CI/CD pipelines on Azure DevOps

• Ensure security best practices and compliance with fintech-grade data protection.

Performance & Reliability

• Improve codebase quality, stability, and resilience through testing frameworks and

automation.

• Diagnose and solve production issues, memory leaks, CPU spikes, and scaling

bottlenecks.

Cross-functional Collaboration

• Work with product managers and designers to define technical requirements and

improve user experience.

• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews, architecture discussions, and

engineering best practices.
