Introduction to team

At Expedia, the Security team is dedicated to safeguarding our company with solutions focused on Cybersecurity Incident Detection and Response (including cyber-attacks), Security Vulnerability Management, and Security Compliance. Our in-house monitoring and Big Data processing platform processes over 6 billion security events per day and forms the backbone of our Cybersecurity Incident handling.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and enhance internal tools: Contribute to the design and development of scalable, low-latency services and solutions using technologies such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python, SQL, and AWS to support partners and stakeholders.
• Automate workflows and processes: Assist in optimizing software delivery by supporting improvements and gaining hands-on experience with automation tools that enhance speed, reliability, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers: Work alongside cross-functional teams and senior engineers across global locations, gaining mentorship in software design, system architecture, and engineering best practices.
• Explore AI-powered development tools: Support the adoption and use of tools like GitHub Copilot to help improve code quality, productivity, and development speed.
• Troubleshoot and grow: Investigate and resolve issues affecting user experience while developing strong debugging, monitoring, and problem-solving skills.

Experience and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
• 1+ years of professional software development experience in a production environment.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language; JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python, or SQL preferred.
• Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, including how applications are built, tested, and deployed; familiarity with Git, GitHub, and CI/CD tools is a plus.
• Interest in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, with a willingness to learn modern cloud-native development practices.
• Experience with automated testing, including unit, functional, integration, and performance/load testing.
• Strong collaborative mindset with excellent communication skills and a genuine enthusiasm for team success.
• Proven ability to analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve issues to deliver effective, scalable solutions.
