Role & responsibilities

Service Technician Switchgear

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and service switchgear equipment (LV/MV/HV), including circuit breakers, relays, contactors, and protective devices.
  
• Perform diagnostic testing (e.g., insulation resistance, contact resistance, circuit breaker timing tests).
  
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with switchgear and associated electrical systems.
  
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance in accordance with OEM and company standards.
  
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  
• Perform field modifications and retrofits to existing equipment.
  
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a safe work environment.
  
• Complete and submit detailed service reports and documentation.
  
• Interface with customers to provide technical support and explain findings and recommendations.
  
• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency service requests as needed.

Preferred candidate profile

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical training.
  
• 25+ years of experience in switchgear service, maintenance, or installation.
  
• Experience with OEM equipment such as ABB, Schneider, Siemens, Eaton, GE, etc., is a plus.
  

Technical Skills:

• Knowledge of LV/MV/HV switchgear systems and components.
  
• Familiarity with testing equipment (e.g., Megger, Ductor, Omicron, HiPot).
  
• Understanding of protection relays, SCADA systems, and PLCs is an asset.
  
• Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings and schematics.
