Position Summary...We are looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering to lead the development and expansion of Transactions team, specifically for Cart and Checkout at Walmart eCommerce. This role requires a technical leader who can build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, drive technical strategy, and execute business objectives efficiently. About Team:

This opportunity is to lead and manage Walmart US Checkout Service, comprising of 8 highly skilled Backend Java engineers. This is a Tier-0 service part of the Transactional journey in the Customer Experience org.

What You'll Do

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead and mentor a team of 10-12 software engineers to drive innovation and excellence.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
  • Define performance expectations, provide coaching, and conduct regular evaluations.

Technical Strategy & Execution

  • Define and own the end-to-end technical roadmap for the Ratings & Reviews system.
  • Work with cloud-native technologies (Azure, GCP) and modern frameworks including Java, Spring Boot, Kafka, Cassandra, BigQuery, Elasticsearch, Apache Spark, REST APIs, Python, Node.js, Rust, and Golang.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across Product, Business, Program, and Engineering in both the U.S. and India.
  • Ensure operational excellence through robust monitoring, automation, and incident management.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive developer productivity improvements and optimize support metrics (MTTD, MTTR, SLAs).
  • Implement best practices for scalability, security, and resilience in cloud-native applications.
  • Proactively address production issues, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Advocate for automation to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.

What You Bring

Required Skills & Experience

  • 14+ years in software engineering, with 6+ years in leadership roles.
  • Expertise in backend development (Java, Spring Boot, Golang) and frontend development (iOS Swift, Android Kotlin, React.js, Next.js, JavaScript).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP, Kubernetes) and big data technologies (BigQuery, Cassandra, Elasticsearch).
  • Hands-on experience with Java 17, Spring Boot, Apache Spark, and NoSQL databases at scale.
  • Strong background in iOS (Swift), Android (Kotlin), and Web (ReactJS, NextJS) development using MVVM-C architecture.
  • Deep knowledge of OOP, reactive programming, UI/UX best practices.
  • Proficiency in monitoring tools (Splunk, OpenObserver, Grafana, Kibana, Prometheus, XMatters, PagerDuty).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.

Master's degree in
