About the Role

Senior / Lead Data Engineer

This role involves end-to-end ownershipfrom raw data ingestion to shaping warehouse models that power critical business insights.

Key Responsibilities

• Build & evolve core data platform components, pipelines, and warehouse layers
  
• Design and maintain structured datasets for reporting and analytics
  
• Work with structured/semi-structured data across PostgreSQL, MySQL & MongoDB
  
• Develop and maintain ETL pipelines for raw and analytics-ready data
  
• Write & optimize complex SQL queries for large-scale processing
  
• Perform data exploration and identify patterns or inconsistencies
  
• Implement transformations and automation using Groovy or Python
  
• Manage infrastructure across on-prem and AWS environments
  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Product, Analytics)
  
• Define and enforce data validation, audit, and alerting mechanisms
  

Required Skills & Experience

• 4–7 years of experience in Data Engineering or backend/data-heavy roles
  
• Strong SQL abilities with deep understanding of query performance tuning
  
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL & MongoDB at scale
  
• Proficient in Groovy or Python
  
• Experience with data warehouses (Redshift, Trino, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  
• Comfortable working on cloud (AWS) and/or on-prem setups
  
• Experience in building/operating production data systems
  
• Strong problem-solving, ownership mindset & debugging skills
  

Nice to Have

• Experience with Apache NiFi, Airflow, or similar orchestrators
  
• Exposure to anomaly detection, data mining, or pattern recognition
  
• Familiarity with warehouse modeling (fact/dim tables, reporting views)
  
• Experience with Trino, Athena, Metabase, or BI/query tools
  
• Understanding of monitoring, logging & alerting practices
  
• Exposure to Kafka, Spark, Flink or other streaming systems
  
• Experience with compliance/finance-related data workflows
  
• Comfort with Docker/Kubernetes
