Job Description

Company Description

We are a startup product development firm that specializes in creating wearables, consumer electronics, and medical devices. Clients often approach us with unique challenges that require a creative outlook and an adaptable skill set. Some products our founders have developed include Whoop 4, Whoop MG, Nuro self-driving car, and the Lumia earpiece.

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer with at least 7 to 10 years of experience. This is a client-facing role where the engineer will have the opportunity to collaborate with world-class engineers while developing novel products that may not exist in the world.

Salary range for this role is ₹18,00,000 - ₹22,00,000 per annum. Within the salary range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.

You will be called upon to develop solutions at the system level as well as take on the detailed electronic design work required to realize your concept.

Roles and responsibilities for this role are:

  • Design, analyze, and validate electrical hardware including integration with complex mechanical components, for low volumes through mass production.
  • Manage, mentor, and direct cross-disciplinary teams to conduct research, brainstorm, prototype, test, analyze, document, and present work to clients; and guide teams to win follow-on work.
  • Share insights on promising directions for new client opportunities, provide technical support for new business development, and devise and execute strategies to meet project and client goals.
  • Implement design changes to improve product reliability, reduce costs, and enhance performance, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
  • Prototyping, debugging, and analysis using standard lab equipment and techniques.
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout of electrical circuits for mass production using CAD and simulation tools such as Altium/KiCAD and SPICE.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of design changes, test results, and validation processes.
  • Support of manufacturing and supply chain, including developing partnerships with part manufacturers and CM’s, selecting and managing external contractors, selecting and qualifying suppliers, developing functional tests, and guiding the design of automated electrical test platforms
  • Up to 15% travel domestically and internationally to partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers

What We Are Looking For

You should have experience solving tough problems within one or more of the following areas: mechatronics, structural design, dynamics, thermal engineering, fluid dynamics, optics, controls, acoustics, precision mechanical systems, product engineering, and design for manufacturing. A broad range is a plus.

  • B.Tech (M.Tech is a plus) in electrical engineering and 7 to 10 years of full-time work experience developing complex, technical, and integrated products.
  • Experience solving tough problems in at least three of the following areas: analog design, high-speed digital design, power electronics, wireless power transfer, RF design, antennas, motor control, and instrumentation. Mastery in a few is a plus.
  • Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing environments and process validation (FAI, PPAP, etc.) and understanding of reliability testing, HALT/HASS, and accelerated life testing.
  • Lab experience including micro-soldering (0201, QFN, BGA) and the use of multimeters, oscilloscopes, source-measure units, impedance analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and similar equipment.
  • Exposure to the full product lifecycle from concept generation through to product release/launch, and NPI.
  • Experience managing overseas vendors like components suppliers, CMs, OEM, JDMs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and comfort with explaining complex engineering concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills, a willingness to get your hands dirty, and a big appetite for self-directed learning.

Desired but not required:

  • Experience in developing high-reliability consumer products at high volumes, preferably with integrated biomedical sensors like ECG, PPG, SpO2, GSR, BIA, or similar.
  • Experience designing and shipping products with Asia-based supply chain.
  • Experience with test automation frameworks and proficiency with Python, MATLAB, LabView or similar.
  • Background in hardware testing and debugging, including software interfaces.
  • Familiarity with regulatory testing processes for medical or consumer devices.

We know the skill-gap and “need to tick every box” can get in the way of meeting brilliant candidates, so please don’t hesitate to apply – we’d love to hear from you if you meet multiple but not all the criteria listed above.

Perks and Benefits

  1. Flexible Working Hours. We are guided by our client work and needs; however, you have autonomy to manage your time and diary to suit your work-life balance.
  2. Total 25 days Paid Time Off (15 days privilege leave, 10 days sick leave)
  3. Day off on your birthday, wedding anniversary, and child’s birthday.
  4. Competitive pay and an awesome bonus structure.
  5. Yearly salary adjustments that keep you ahead of inflation.
