Senior Hardware Design Engineer

Position Overview

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to lead the design and development of home automation, lighting control, and smart electronic products.
The candidate will take full responsibility for circuit design, PCB development, component selection, testing, validation, and compliance activities, ensuring high-quality and reliable hardware for production.

The role requires strong expertise in analog/digital design, power electronics, and EMI/EMC standards, with hands-on experience in debugging, validation, and design optimization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end hardware design cycle — concept, schematic, PCB layout, validation, and production release.
• Design reliable analog, digital, and power circuits for automation and control systems.
• Review and approve schematics, layouts, and BOMs prepared by junior engineers.
• Validate power integrity, signal integrity, and EMC compliance through simulation and testing.
• Design and test LED drivers, relay modules, touch circuits, and interface boards.
• Perform component selection, derating analysis, and lifecycle management.
• Conduct design reviews, risk assessments, and ensure design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT).
• Supervise prototype assembly, soldering/rework, and PCB debugging activities.
• Develop and execute test plans for validation, reliability, and safety compliance.
• Ensure compliance with UL, CE, IEC, and EMI/EMC standards.
• Collaborate closely with firmware, mechanical, and production teams to ensure seamless integration.
• Support field testing, issue diagnosis, and continuous product improvement.
• Mentor junior engineers, providing technical guidance and design best practices.

Qualifications

• B.E / B.Tech in Electronics, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
• 3–5 years of hands-on experience in hardware circuit design and PCB development.
• Strong foundation in analog/digital circuits and power electronics.
• Proficiency in Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle for schematic and multilayer PCB design.
• Expertise in soldering, desoldering, and debugging SMD PCBs.
• Familiarity with microcontrollers (PIC, ESP32, STM32) and interface circuits.

Key Technical Skills

• Circuit design (analog, digital, mixed-signal)
• Power electronics (AC/DC, DC/DC converters, relay & driver circuits)
• PCB design (2–6 layers) with DFM/DFT practices
• Signal and power integrity analysis
• EMI/EMC design & mitigation techniques
• Surge, ESD, and transient protection design
• Soldering, rework, and advanced PCB debugging
• Instrumentation: Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Power Analyzer, Thermal Camera
• Component derating and reliability analysis
• Product validation, qualification, and certification readiness

Design & Safety Standards

• Compliance with UL, CE, and IEC safety standards.
• Adherence to EMI/EMC (IEC 61000 series) and surge protection guidelines.
• Implementation of creepage, clearance, and insulation design for safety compliance.
• Familiarity with BIS and IS standards for Indian market products.
• Knowledge of thermal design, trace current capacity, and PCB reliability practices.

Preferred / Added Advantage

• Experience with LED driver, dimming (PWM / 0–10V / TRIAC), and capacitive touch circuits.
• Familiarity with IoT hardware design (ESP32, Wi-Fi, BLE).
• Exposure to product certification processes (UL / CE / BIS).
• Hands-on experience with hardware validation automation or test jigs.
• Understanding of production tooling, assembly, and testing procedures.
