Role Overview: You will be joining the Cisco Distributed System Engineering (DSE) group as a Senior Engineering Manager, playing a crucial role in developing products for the largest networks worldwide. The team focuses on leveraging open-source technologies to build cutting-edge infrastructure for AI/ML workloads and the increasing number of internet users and applications. As a leader in this team, you will collaborate with engineers and technical leads, working in a fast-paced environment to drive end-to-end product development and production support. Key Responsibilities: - Understand the design and deployment of SONiC, leading the SONiC solutions test team from start to finish. - Collaborate with hardware teams to optimize hardware-software interactions and ensure solutions work seamlessly across different silicon variants. - Take ownership of project schedules, supervise progress, and ensure automated SONiC tests are extensively demonstrated in CICD setups. - Work with Technical Leaders and other managers to enhance the scalability of Cisco SONiC solutions and ensure thorough validation and benchmarking. - Engage with product management and customers to gather requirements, align work with business objectives, and evaluate new tools and technologies for accelerated development and testing cycles. - Identify issues promptly, maintain work quality, participate in Python code reviews, and embody the company culture and values. Qualifications Required: - Around 20 years of work experience with a minimum of 5 years in a management role overseeing approximately 10 team members. - Previous experience in software data and control plane software, data structure, Linux user space/OS internals is essential. - Proficiency in networking technologies including L2, L3, VLAN, Port Channel, LAG, VXLAN, Segment Routing, BGP, QoS, ACL, with at least 5 years of experience as a developer in these areas. - Comfortable delving into L2 and L3 networking aspects to provide valuable insights to the team and participating in technical discussions. - Familiarity with Docker, Containerized environments, Open-source tools, and Security vulnerabilities. - Strong experience in hiring and retaining top talents, performance evaluation, salary planning, budgeting, and forecasting. - Advocate for innovation and process improvements, enhancing team productivity and leading high-performance agile development teams. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, negotiation abilities, and a quick learner with self-motivation.
