Job Description

Role & responsibilities

1. Planning & Execution

  • Study architectural and structural drawings to understand design intent.
  • Prepare daily/weekly work plans in coordination with project schedules.
  • Supervise construction activities on-site to ensure work is carried out as per drawings and specifications.
  • Plan material, labor, and machinery requirements in advance.
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks within the given deadlines.

2. Quality Control

  • Conduct checks on construction materials (cement, steel, concrete, bricks, etc.) before and during use.
  • Monitor workmanship and construction processes to maintain quality standards.
  • Coordinate with testing laboratories for cube tests, soil tests, etc.
  • Ensure adherence to IS codes, safety standards, and client specifications.

3. Contractor & Workforce Coordination

  • Allocate work to contractors and supervise their performance.
  • Maintain daily coordination with subcontractors (masonry, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, etc.).
  • Resolve on-site technical issues and provide instructions.
  • Keep attendance and productivity checks of labor.

4. Material Management

  • Raise requisitions for materials in advance to avoid delays.
  • Verify and record incoming material deliveries with challans and purchase orders.
  • Check for damages/defects in materials and ensure proper stacking and storage.
  • Maintain a material consumption log for accountability.

5. Safety Management

  • Ensure workers follow PPE (helmets, gloves, harness, shoes, etc.).
  • Conduct toolbox talks and safety briefings.
  • Report and rectify unsafe practices and site hazards.
  • Ensure scaffolding, formwork, and equipment are safe and stable.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily site progress reports.
  • Update measurement sheets for billing purposes.
  • Keep photographic records of work stages.
  • Coordinate with office team for contractor billing, client updates, and RERA/Statutory documentation.

7. Coordination with Consultants & Management

  • Liaise with structural engineers, architects, and MEP consultants for design clarifications.
  • Report project status to Project Manager / Senior Engineer.
  • Attend site meetings with management, consultants, and clients.
  • Provide inputs to planning and billing teams.

8. Cost & Time Control

  • Minimize wastage of materials and resources.
  • Ensure work execution matches BOQ and contract conditions.
  • Highlight delays, variations, or cost impacts to management immediately.
