Job Title Senior CAD Developer
Division Weir Minerals Location Bangalore Hybrid Purpose of Role: To support BU across the division in the areas of CAD Automation and Development for Engineer designs. Develops and implements automation solutions to streamline CAD design processes. They focus on enhancing efficiency, improving productivity, and reducing manual intervention in CAD workflows. This involves creating scripts and tools, optimizing design workflows, and integrating CAD systems with other engineering software

  • Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to Weir’s zero-harm behaviours in support of the drive towards developing a world class safety culture.
  • Design and development: Creating automated solutions using programming languages like VBA, .NET, Java, or Python, and scripting languages to automate tasks in CAD software like UGNX, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and others.
  • Workflow optimization: Identifying areas for improvement in design workflows, boosting productivity, and reducing non-value-added activities.
  • Integration: Collaborating with product owners, Product CoEs, Technology Groups and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure seamless integration of CAD automation tools with other engineering systems.
  • Maintenance and support: Maintaining and troubleshooting automation scripts and tools, ensuring their accuracy, reliability, and proper functionality.
  • Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams, clients, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, develop solutions, and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Testing and validation: Thoroughly testing and validating CAD automation solutions to ensure they meet requirements and deliver the desired results.
  • Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive documentation for all automation solutions and workflows.
  • Staying updated: Keeping abreast of new technologies and advancements in CAD and automation, AI and other technologies to improve and refine existing solutions.

Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Applications with a minimum of 6-10 years’ experience in the area of CAD and Engineering automation. Experience
  • Strong programming and scripting skills: Proficiency in languages like VBA, .NET, Java, or Python.
  • Software expertise: Experience with industry-standard CAD software such as UGNX, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, or CATIA. Knowledge on integration with other enterprise software like SAP, CPQ tools like KBmax and PLM software like Teamcenter is desirable.
  • Problem-solving skills: Ability to analyze complex problems, propose solutions, and implement them effectively.
  • Collaboration and communication skills: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical information clearly.
  • Detail-oriented and organized: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn: Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn new skills as required.
