Senior Backend Software Engineer (5 years exp)

We are YP Club, a dynamic company based in Dubai, seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Software Engineer to join our team in Hyderabad, India. This role is critical to managing our existing codebase independently while supporting the development of a new technology product. With our application currently facing stability challenges, we need an expert to oversee RESTful API management, Kong API Gateway integration, authentication, authorization, SSL certificates, and development stage environment management. This position requires at least 5 years of experience and the ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

• Independently maintain and optimize the existing backend codebase, resolving bugs and ensuring stability.
• Design, develop, and manage RESTful APIs, leveraging Kong API Gateway for efficient routing and security.
• Implement and manage authentication and authorization mechanisms to secure API endpoints.
• Oversee SSL certificate management and ensure secure communication across environments.
• Manage the development stage environment for testing, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with the team to build out a new tech product, providing technical leadership and support.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers as needed.
• Participate in a 2-hour technical assessment to demonstrate expertise.

• Experience

  : Minimum 5 years in backend software engineering, with a strong focus on Node.js or similar frameworks.

• Technical Skills

  :
• Proficient in RESTful API design and management.
• Hands-on experience with Kong API Gateway for API routing and security.
• Expertise in authentication and authorization (e.g., OAuth, JWT).
• Knowledge of SSL certificate management and secure deployment practices.
• Experience managing development stage environments (e.g., staging servers, testing pipelines).
• Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and basic DevOps practices (e.g., CI/CD basics) is a plus but not critical at this stage.

• Independence

  : Ability to work autonomously, managing existing code and supporting new development with minimal oversight.

• Communication

  : Strong English proficiency for effective collaboration with a Dubai-based team.

• Availability

  : Immediate start, with flexibility to work Hyderabad hours (IST) aligned with Dubai (GST, +1.5 hours).

• Environment

  : Node.js backend on an EC2 instance with a microservices architecture (/home/ubuntu/app/services/).

• Current Challenge

  : Existing codebase requires stabilization; new product development is underway.

• Assessment

  : A 2-hour technical assessment will be provided to all shortlisted candidates, focusing on RESTful API design, Kong Gateway configuration, and environment management. Completion is mandatory for consideration.

• Access

  : SSH access via AWS Systems Manager Session Manager will be provided upon agreement.
