Senior Backend Engineer

As a Senior Backend Engineer/Java API Developer with over 10 years of experience in the Banking and Fintech domain, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and secure RESTful APIs using Java, PostgreSQL, AWS core services, and Apache Kafka in a cloud-based environment. Your key responsibilities will include optimizing and managing PostgreSQL databases, building data pipelines and real-time processing systems with Apache Kafka, leveraging AWS core services to develop cloud-native applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software, participating in code reviews and mentoring junior team members, as well as troubleshooting production issues to ensure high system availability and performance. To be successful in this role, you must have at least 10 years of hands-on experience in backend development, a strong proficiency in Java with experience in frameworks like Spring Boot or Dropwizard, a deep understanding of PostgreSQL including SQL queries, indexing, and performance optimization, hands-on experience with Apache Kafka, proven experience working with AWS core services, a solid understanding of microservices architecture, security best practices, REST API standards, experience with version control systems like Git, CI/CD tools, and strong problem-solving skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with containerization tools like Docker, orchestration tools like Kubernetes, exposure to monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch, or the ELK stack, as well as experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
