Senior Applied Scientist

Role Overview: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is a leading cloud innovation company that combines the agility of a startup with the reliability of an enterprise software provider. The AI Science team at OCI is dedicated to developing state-of-the-art machine learning solutions to solve complex real-world problems at scale. As a Senior Applied Scientist (IC3), you will play a crucial role in developing highly complex and accurate data science models in the areas of Generative AI and Computer Vision. Key Responsibilities: - Develop advanced AI models and algorithms focusing on large language models, large multimodal models, computer vision, and foundation models. - Design, implement, and test critical modules/features of AI services ensuring correctness, high availability, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. - Advocate for best practices in testing, benchmarking, and model validation to ensure reliability and performance. - Analyze ML models, optimize them for accuracy and latency, and handle large-scale training and production deployment. - Own data analysis, feature engineering, technique selection & implementation, debugging, and maintenance of production models. - Implement machine learning algorithms or research papers from scratch to production and work with large, complex datasets. - Proactively identify technical issues/bugs and provide innovative solutions, file patents, and publications as by-products of solving complex business problems. - Collaborate closely with product managers, engineering leads, and annotation/data teams to define requirements, ensure data quality, and acceptance of data/annotation. - Utilize Oracle Cloud technology to develop innovative AI solutions. Qualifications Required: - Ph.D. (preferred) or Masters in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or related field. - PhD in computer vision or 2+ years of Experience designing, implementing, and deploying computer vision models in production environments. - Expertise in GenAI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Large Multimodal Models (LMMs), object detection, facial recognition, and image classification. - Strong foundation in deep learning architectures such as CNNs, transformers, diffusion models, and multimodal models. - Expertise in at least one high-level language such as Python/Java/C++. - Practical experience in ML algorithm design, model training, and production deployment using microservices architecture. - Experience working in a cloud environment like Oracle Cloud (OCI), AWS, GCP, Azure, or similar technology. - Experience or willingness to learn and work in Agile and iterative development processes. - Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and excellent problem-solving skills. - Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and has a strong drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.,
