Robotics Intern – Prototype Development
Key Responsibilities
Design & Build
- Assemble and wire robotics components like motors, drivers, sensors, and microcontrollers.
- Design simple circuits and prototype boards for rapid experimentation.
Code & Control
- Develop Python scripts for motor control, sensor integration, and safety protocols.
- Interface with hardware using GPIO, serial, IC/SPI, etc.
System Integration & Debugging
- Integrate microcontrollers, drivers, and sensors into a functional robotics system.
- Diagnose hardware-software issues and resolve integration challenges.
SLAM & Localization
- Implement and tune SLAM algorithms using ROS 2 (e.g., Cartographer, GMapping, RTAB-Map).
- Enable autonomous mapping, navigation, and localization.
Rapid Iteration & Experimentation
- Continuously prototype, test, and refine hardware and software systems based on feedback and failures.
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with multidisciplinary engineers in mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
- Participate in design discussions, sprint planning, and prototype reviews.
Qualifications
- Pursuing or recently completed Bachelor’s in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electronics, Computer Science, or related field.
- Demonstrated hands-on project in robotics or embedded systems (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, etc.).
- Proficient in Python, especially for hardware interfacing and scripting.
- Solid understanding of control systems, sensors, and microcontroller communication protocols.
- Comfortable working with physical tools, circuit assembly, and soldering.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with ROS 2 and SLAM algorithms (Cartographer, RTAB-Map, GMapping).
- Exposure to OpenCV, TensorFlow, or similar computer vision frameworks.
- Familiarity with CAD tools like Fusion 360 or SolidWorks.
- Basic mechanical design and prototyping skills.
