QAT Engineer

The QA Automation Engineer is a key member of the QA Guild and is responsible for managing the automation testing efforts within the team. This role reports to the QA Guild Lead and works closely with other guild members. The team lead will manage, mentor, and support junior QA automation engineers, overseeing test automation practices and frameworks. They will ensure that automation processes are scalable and maintainable. 

Job Scope

1. Manage the day-to-day activities of the QA automation team, including providing technical guidance, mentoring, and career development opportunities for junior team members.
   
2. Define, develop, and implement automation testing strategies.
   
3. Contribute to the QA Guild and developers by sharing knowledge and technical insights. Participate in guild meetings, workshops, and retrospectives to improve automation processes.
   
4. Provide clear and detailed reports on automation testing progress, coverage, and results to the QA Guild Lead and other stakeholders.
   
5. Select, maintain, and optimize automation tools, frameworks, and technologies
   

Responsibilities

1. Clear vision for the path forward
   
2. Lead, motivate, manage,  and mentor a team of junior and mid-level QA automation engineers, providing guidance on test automation tools, frameworks, and best practices.
   
3. Provide regular feedback and help junior team members improve their skills in test automation and QA.
   
4. Encourage to implementation of new technologies or tools to enhance productivity
   
5. Integration of AI tools for Automation Testing.
   
6. Design and implement scalable, efficient, and maintainable automation frameworks using tools.
   
7. Drive improvements in automation coverage, focusing on critical use cases and integration points.
   
8. Work with the QA Guild Lead and other team leads to define common goals for automation and ensure consistency across the QA function.
   
9. Oversee the integration of automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline, ensuring tests are executed regularly in the QAT environment.
   
10. Monitor the execution of automated tests, track results, and ensure the timely resolution of issues.
    
11. Report test automation progress, coverage, and outcomes to the QA Guild Lead, providing insights into quality metrics, defects, risks, and test execution success.
    
12. Continuously assess the automation testing process, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements to enhance test coverage, efficiency, and reliability.
    
13. Collaborate closely with developers and other QA teams to ensure automated tests align with product requirements and development timelines.
