Senior Python Backend Engineer to design, develop, and secure cloud-based voice applications. The ideal candidate will have deep experience with FastAPI, secure HTTP protocols, audio processing, IVR workflows, and production-grade cloud deployment. You will play a pivotal role in building highly scalable, secure, and reliable voice AI systems that handle STT (Speech-to-Text), LLM orchestration, and TTS (Text-to-Speech) pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

● Architect and implement secure, high-performance voice APIs with FastAPI, supporting real-time audio streaming and batch processing.

● Integrate IVR workflows: STT → LLM → TTS, ensuring transcript integrity with digest-based verification.

● Research and apply security best practices for voice data, including PII scrubbing, AES-GCM encryption, JWT validation, RBAC, and consent artifact storage.

● Implement reliability and observability patterns: retries, circuit breakers, request timeouts, token-bucket rate limiting, structured logging, OTEL tracing, and health monitoring.

● Centralise configuration, hot-reload settings, and manage secrets via AWS Secrets Manager.

● Build secure containerised deployments: hardened Dockerfiles, CI/CD pipelines, AWS ECR/ECS/Fargate, ALB/TLS, WAF, and CloudWatch logging.

● Conduct security audits, dependency checks, SBOM generation, static analysis, and container hardening.

● Optimise audio handling pipelines: audio encryption, validation, tamper-proof logs, and secure storage for recordings and prompts.

● Collaborate with AI engineers to design prompt templates and ensure efficient STT/TTS orchestration for voice apps.

Qualifications:

● 3-4+ years of Python backend development experience, preferably with FastAPI or equivalent frameworks.

● Hands-on experience with secure HTTP communication (mTLS, JWT, JWKS), AES-GCM encryption, and PII compliance.

● Strong AWS experience (Secrets Manager, ECS, ECR, ACM, WAF, CloudWatch).

● Knowledge of reliability and observability tooling: tenacity, pybreaker, structlog, OTEL.

● Experience in containerisation, CI/CD, and cloud-native deployments.

● Familiarity with IVR, STT/TTS pipelines, audio processing, and secure handling of voice data.

Nice-to-Have:

● Experience with Jinja templating for voice prompts and dynamic LLM orchestration.

● Knowledge of token-bucket rate limiting, digest-based verification, and tamper-proof logging for audio data.

● Understanding of KMS key rotation, consent artifact security, and regulatory compliance for voice applications.
