Proposal Engineer

The Proposal Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive technical and commercial proposals for wastewater treatment projects (such as STP, ETP, and RO systems). The role requires close collaboration with sales, design, procurement, and project teams to deliver timely and client-focused solutions.

Responsibilities

Tender/Bid Preparation

• Study RFQs (Request for Quotation), tenders, and client specifications.
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals in line with client requirements.
• Coordinate with design, projects, and procurement teams for inputs.

Costing & Estimation

• Prepare cost sheets for equipment, materials, and services.
• Collect vendor quotations and evaluate pricing.
• Optimize costing to make proposals competitive.

Technical Support

• Prepare compliance statements and technical clarifications.
• Create technical documents, drawings, and datasheets as required.
• Support sales team in explaining proposals to clients.

Coordination

• Liaise with vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments.
• Follow up on approvals, clarifications, and bid submissions.
• Ensure timely submission of proposals.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain records of proposals, costing, and client communications.
• Prepare MIS reports on tenders and success rates.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree

  in Engineering (Civil, Chemical, or Environmental preferred for waste water sector).
• Diploma holders with relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience

• Fresher engineers can start as junior proposal engineers.
• 1–3 years of experience in tendering/estimation/proposals (for engineers in water/wastewater/utility/industrial projects).

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Basic understanding of AutoCAD, P&ID, or flow diagrams (preferred in water industry).
• Good communication (for client and vendor interaction).
• Costing, estimation, and analytical skills.
• Time management and ability to work under deadlines.
