Principal Software Engineer

As a valued member of the team at Optum, your role will involve providing technical leadership in architecture, design, and modernization of legacy applications/services to new technologies in the Public Cloud (AWS/Azure), Java, Java Spring, Rest API, Angular/React Js. You will lead the technology transformation, innovating in solution design and development to meet the needs of the business. It is crucial to understand security threats comprehensively and ensure adherence to all regulatory initiatives such as HIPPA, PHI, PII, locational data restrictions, and contractual obligations. - Provide technical leadership in architecture, design, and modernization of legacy applications/services - Lead technology transformation and innovate in solution design and development - Ensure adherence to regulatory initiatives and security threats - Understand and work with technologies such as Public Cloud, Java, Java Spring, Rest API, Angular/React Js Your responsibilities will also include: - Contributing towards inner source to save significant $ savings - Creating a common framework and repository for the development of Modern APIs - Demonstrating leadership in software engineering best practices - Creating next-generation applications with scalable and distributed architecture - Staying updated on leading-edge technologies and collaborating with various business areas to assess new business needs and solutions Furthermore, you will: - Mentor and coach engineers - Establish best practices and create a startup mentality for introducing new capabilities - Strive for high levels of customer satisfaction - Ensure compliance with employment contract terms, company policies, and directives Qualifications Required: - Engineering graduate in Computer Science or equivalent field - 12+ years of software product development experience - 3+ years of experience in designing and building Enterprise Application solutions on public cloud offerings - Experience with Azure application services - Proficiency in modern software engineering tools and practices - Strong experience in technological innovation to meet business requirements - Experience in building data pipelines on Azure and developing Java RESTful Services using SpringBoot - Subject matter expertise in Cloud technologies, preferably Azure Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with DevOps - Experience in developing cloud-based API gateways - Exposure to API integration frameworks - Background in the healthcare industry At Optum, you will have the opportunity to work in a culture guided by inclusion, with talented peers, comprehensive benefits, and career development prospects.
