The role requires expertise in database performance tuning, security, cloud-based best practices, proactively detect anomalies, forecast resource needs, and ensure continuous availability The DBA will collaborate closely with architects, developers, system administrators, and Devops teams to ensure efficient database integration with business applications. Team Leadership & Management Leading, mentoring, and guiding a team of database administrators, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Providing expert-level support for escalated database-related issues, leading root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions. Working closely with other IT teams (e.g., development, devops) to ensure seamless integration and alignment of database solutions. Implementing and enforcing database security policies, managing user access controls, and ensuring data protection and compliance. Assist developers in leveraging SQL Server Profiler, Oracle AWR, and AWS Performance Insights for tuning queries. Work closely with developers to design and maintain optimized database schemas for SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres & MySQL Database Management & Maintenance Administer and maintain SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL databases hosted on Amazon RDS and Amazon EC2. Perform database installations, patching, and upgrades on AWS infrastructure. Configure and manage multi-AZ deployments, Read Replicas, AOAG, and Data Guard to ensure high availability. Manage SQL Server Always On configurations for improved failover and availability. Implement database partitioning, compression, and indexing strategies for performance optimization. AI/ML Integration & Automation Implement AI-powered observability tools for predictive monitoring and anomaly detection (e.g. for query optimization or capacity forecasting) Predictive performance modeling (e.g., forecasting CPU, memory usage) AI-based query optimization using workload analysis Proactive alerting using anomaly detection models (e.g., Prophet, isolation forest) Automation scripts in Python and Shell to monitor DB health Integration with AI platforms (Azure ML, AWS Sage Maker, or custom models) Lead efforts in automating DBA task using AI/ML (e.g. index recommendation, workload pattern recognition) Data Integrity & Security Implement security best practices using AWS services like AWS KMS, IAM Roles, and Security Groups for database access control. Manage encryption for data at rest and in transit using Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) for SQL Server and Oracle. Ensure compliance with organizational and industry security standards. Backup & Recovery Design and implement automated backup strategies using AWS Backup and RDS Automated Snapshots for SQL Server. Use Oracle RMAN for Oracle database backups and recovery. Develop and test disaster recovery plans using AWS DMS and Cloud Endure. Monitoring & Alerting Configure proactive alerts for performance issues, storage limits, and availability risks using CloudWatch and AWS SNS. Collaboration & Documentation Collaborate with developers, cloud architects, and DevOps teams to integrate database changes into CI/CD pipelines. Document database architectures, configurations, backup strategies, and recovery plans.
