Network & Security Engineer

As a Network & Security Engineer at UST in Trivandrum, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of the network infrastructure. Your core competencies will include: Network Infrastructure & Operations: - Routing & Switching: Utilize enterprise-grade routers and switches to maintain optimal network performance. - Network Health Monitoring: Conduct regular health checks on various network components like routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and QoS configurations. - Performance & Reliability: Monitor system performance to ensure high availability and reliability across all network components. - Resource Utilization & Capacity Planning: Analyze system resource usage trends to inform capacity planning and scalability strategies. Incident Management & Vendor Coordination: - Change Management & Incident Response: Adhere to established change management and Major Incident Management (MIM) policies for smooth network changes and incident resolution. - Vendor Liaison: Coordinate with vendors during planned maintenance and Priority 1 (P1) incidents to expedite issue resolution. Network Security & Threat Management: - Security Protocols & Devices: Configure and manage security devices such as firewalls, antivirus systems, cryptographic tools, and SIEM systems. - Threat Identification & Mitigation: Identify security threats and implement protection measures. - Security Assessments: Review system changes for potential security implications and recommend necessary improvements. Protocols, Tools & Technologies: - Networking Protocols: Deep knowledge of IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, and QoS protocols. - Monitoring & Diagnostic Tools: Skilled in using ticketing systems, network monitoring tools, diagnostics, and analytics platforms. - Security & Networking Hardware: Experience with devices from Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, F5, and Cloudflare. Wireless & Enterprise Networking: - Wireless Deployment: Deploy and manage wireless networks supporting over 500 users per site for seamless connectivity and performance. - WAN Connectivity: Understanding of WAN connectivity, transport types, and protocols to support enterprise operations. Your technical skills will include VPN, LAN/WAN, Network Security, Routing & Switching, Threat Management, SIEM, QoS, Wireless Networking, Firewall Configuration, and Vendor Coordination.
