Role Overview: You will be part of UltraDNS, a company revitalizing its engineering culture and adopting modern software design and delivery techniques. As an intellectually passionate individual, you will collaborate within an Agile team to develop services and products. Your role will involve developing, testing, and debugging production-quality code primarily in Java and automating development workflows. Additionally, you will design, develop, and optimize database schemas for applications and services, work with various databases, monitor performance, and collaborate with senior engineers to ensure efficient data access patterns. Key Responsibilities: - Collaborate within an Agile team to develop services and products. - Develop, test, and debug production-quality code in Java, with some involvement in Python or other languages. - Automate development workflows using tools like Ant, Gradle, Jenkins, Ansible, and Terraform. - Design, develop, and optimize database schemas for applications and services. - Work with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB). - Monitor and improve the performance and health of the services and databases. - Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure efficient data access patterns. - Contribute to shared infrastructure, improve existing systems, and adhere to best practices. - Debug and resolve coding, design, and database-related issues under guidance. - Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver quality solutions. - Update and maintain existing software and database solutions as necessary. Qualifications Required: - Bachelors degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field OR equivalent work experience. - 3+ years of experience developing enterprise software and services. - 1+ year of experience with Unix/Linux systems. - 2+ years of experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle) or NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). - Experience working on scalable systems or developing RESTful APIs. - Proficiency in Java or a similar programming language (Python is a plus). - Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud environments. - Basic understanding of database optimization, indexing, and query tuning. - Basic knowledge of performance monitoring and scalability principles.
